Sanchez aims to end season strong
At times, the Marlins see flashes of what made Anibal Sanchez so successful during his rookie season.
Then, at other times, the team watches the 25-year-old labor with his command. His pitch count tends to rise, and his outings become short.
Regaining the form of his 2006 rookie season remains a high priority for Sanchez, who has dealt with right shoulder issues since his first big league campaign.
When healthy, Sanchez has the potential to become an elite pitcher. The problem right now is not so much physically, but more mechanically.

Sanchez aware of series’ importance
This week’s four-game series against the Braves could make or break the Marlins’ season, and pitcher Anibal Sanchez knows it.
The right-hander, who has made two starts since returning from the disabled list Aug. 21, believes a successful series against their National League East rival would propel the Marlins closer to their goal of reaching the playoffs.
“I think this is the biggest series of the season,” Sanchez said. “It’s a huge opportunity to establish ourselves in second place and get a good spot in the Wild Card race. I think we just need to take it one game at a time, and if we play like we can, we should be able to win some games and establish a good position going forward.”
